This position supports our workers' compensation line of business, Eastern Alliance and is based in Mississippi.
The Regional Underwriting Consultant will report to the Madison MS office as needed for Moments that Matter, including training, meetings and special events.

Summary:
The primary responsibility of the Regional Underwriting Consultant is to execute the strategic initiatives and financial goals of the Underwriting Department in support of the Company's revenue and profitability objectives and overall business plan.
This position provides focused customer service and support for all commercial underwriting transactions within delegated authority and overall business plan.
This position underwrites large and complex risks.
Essential Functions:
30% - Within approved authority, analyze risks for new and renewal business in support of the company's Underwriting objectives; makes decisions in support of profitability about accepting, modifying or declining all new and renewal business within the timelines set by regulatory and Company guidelines.
Underwrite retrospectively rated and large deductible products.
Assume lead underwriting responsibilities for assigned Inova programs.
20% - Cultivate and develop meaningful and relevant agency relationships by maintaining a high level of visibility advocating Eastern as a carrier of choice, promoting products and services and identifying new business opportunities, including alternative insurance programs in collaboration with the Inova team.
Drive agency results through supporting the business planning process, regularly monitoring performance, developing strategies to address improvement opportunities and facilitating collaboration between the service teams and others as necessary.
Maintain a thorough knowledge of the assigned territory and communicate key changes in:
market conditions, competition, economic development and demographics.
20% - Serve as the account manager for the development and execution of comprehensive, individualized service strategies for the large accounts including coordinating and leading internal and external meetings.
Coordinate regular client-facing service activities including point of sale and stewardship meetings to drive profitability, develop new business and maximize retention.
Perform functions necessary for the accurate, timely issuance of quotations, policies, renewals, endorsements, cancellations, non-renewals, risk management surveys and required file documentation by working collaboratively with agency partners, Associate Underwriters and all internal colleagues.
10% - Champions and promotes the company's products (ecovery , ParallelPay , eaport, N3L3, etc.
).
Regularly uses tools to effectively manage return to wellness initiatives by working collaboratively with agents, clients, claims, and risk management consultants to insure proper return to wellness guidelines and procedures are established, followed and achieved.
Secondary Functions:
5% - Work collaboratively with regional business leaders to coordinate, develop, and execute annual business plans for assigned agency partners; monitor results monthly and take action as necessary to achieve the stated goals.
5% - Review monthly reports and goals and implement necessary changes to ensure strategic initiatives and financial goals are being met.
5% - Offer mentoring and guidance for assigned associate underwriter and less experience underwriters in the organization.
5% - Assist with company projects as assigned and continue professional growth and development through the attendance and participation in insurance related events and functions.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Bachelor Degree in Business, Insurance, or related field is required.
A minimum of five years of insurance underwriting experience is required.
Workers' compensation underwriting experience and the active pursuit of professional development and the completion of insurance designations (CPCU, CIC, CRM, ARM, etc.
) is strongly preferred.
Demonstrated proficiency in underwriting skills through achieving targeted financial and operational results.
Demonstrated ability to earn underwriting authority and work independently.
Proven ability to establish effective internal and external relationships.
Ability to attend insurance and industry/business functions to promote and present a positive image of the Company.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office computer applications; ability to learn new computer software applications.
Advanced analytical ability in order to research, analyze, and interpret information; make profitable decisions about risks.
Attention to detail in processing policy information, establishing priorities, and meeting deadlines.
Solid analytical and problem solving skills, including formulating logical and objective conclusions.
Ability to assess the urgency and importance of a situation and take appropriate action.
Ability to communication effectively and professionally both verbally and in writing with various constituencies and at all levels; both in and outside of the organization including agency partners, outside customers, and clients.
Position Salary Range $71,182.
00 - $117,463.
00 The salary range displayed represents the entirety of the pay grade for this position.
Most candidates will start in the bottom half of the range.
