About the position:
Manage account payables to ensure supplier payments are made timely and process payments through the agency system and MAGIC Analyze and reconcile accounts of suppliers and retailers using Excel Communicate clearly and accurately with stakeholders in response to questions related to fees, taxes, rules, policies, and regulations Perform financial transactions related to accounts payable, claims, and inventory adjustments Conduct research using various resources to resolve issues related to suppliers and retailers File monthly returns Review compliance in accordance with laws, rules, and regulations Manage salvage sale in the system Communicate with the Mississippi Department of Finance and Administration to register new suppliers and to resolve issues related to payments Process bailment payments and research related issues for resolution Perform system testing to ensure successful updates Compile, analyze, and review data for yearly reporting What you will need to be successful:
To perform the job successfully, the following are essential:
Excellent knowledge of accounting principles and practices Sound knowledge of Excel and proficiency in Word Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to communicate efficiently and professionally (both verbally and written) with stakeholders and with other state agencies Ability to work both collaboratively and independently Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail Ability to maintain high ethical standards Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in accounting or related field with 24 hours of accounting as identified below:

Principles of Accounting I and II Intermediate Accounting I and II Federal Income Tax Auditing The remaining 6 hours may be selected from the following:
